The
history of OHM ...
Fair Haven bass player Matto founded OHM with a few friends of his
in the year 2000 in St. Gallen (Switzerland). He wanted to overcome
the playing breaks in between the activities of his other Band.
Since the middle of 2005 the OHM line-up is steady, and OHM is a
unique and up-raising band.
However, it took many winding roads to get to this point. After
the break-up of the original OHM formation Rogör (Catfish)
and Matto met, and they jointly decided to reform the band. Quickly
the new line-up was found, but soon we figured out that not all
of the other musicians had the same goals in mind. Roger stayed
on drums, and Matto switched from bass to guitar.
The two of them decided to play originals, and started to put
their ideas into songs. The goal was to record a demo CD. The
main purpose of recording this CD was to find the right musicians
for the vacant jobs. In order to record the CD various friends
from their surroundings took on the missing instruments.
With the Demo CD “Anywhere, Somewhere, Nowhere” the
two friends began to search for a professional singer. Through
an ad in the German Rock Hard Magazin they found Holger.
Shortly thereafter Johanni Brea (Light Bulb Sun) joined on Bass
Guitar, and Bernie Küpfer (Fair Haven) on Lead Guitar entered
the team. With this line-up OHM started to rise out of the basement
onto the stages and clubs of Switzerland. The band started to
present their music across Switzerland. OHM plays melodic Heavy
Metal / Hard Rock.
‘Cause out of a lack of time Johanni left OHM after the
“Chaincrusher Tour 2006”. However, Johanni was kind
enough to play all the bass parts on the final “Fixing The
Shadow” record. As a new member of OHM we can welcome Riccardo
Bo (Black Rain).
In the beginning of 2007 Sanij joined Ohm as the new singer.
At the moment Ohm is getting ready for the new concert season.
OHM is ready to continue the journey, what about you? …
To be continued
